Financial requirements and work rights for international students in Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, and Denmark for the 2025/2026 academic year:

Finland Study Permit Financial Requirements (2025)

For studies lasting 1 year or longer:
Minimum funds required: €9,600
(Must be shown in bank account at time of application)
For studies less than 1 year:
Minimum funds required: €800/month
(Must be available for each month of stay)
Work Rights:
30 hours/week (October–May).
Full-time (June–September).

Sweden Study Permit Financial Requirements (2025)

Monthly Maintenance Requirement:
SEK 10,584/month (2025 applicants)
SEK 10,314/month (2024 applicants)

Accepted Proof of Funds:

  • Personal bank savings
  • Scholarships or grants
  • Loans from home country
  • Sponsor support
  • Income from employment

Reductions for Free Benefits:
Free housing: Deduct SEK 4,704/month (2025)
Free meals: Deduct SEK 2,940/month (2025)
Additional for Family Members:
Spouse/partner: + SEK 4,410/month
Per child: + SEK 2,646/month

Belgium Study Permit Financial & Work Rules (2025)

1. Minimum Living Funds Requirement:
€835 net/month
(Set by Royal Decree, adjusted annually for 2025-2026)
2. Student Work & Tax Benefits:
Tax-free earning limit: €7,290/year
(Income earned in 2024, declared in 2025)
Does not affect parents’ tax benefits for dependent children.
Work quota: 650 hours/year
Allows extended work hours while maintaining reduced social security contributions.


Norway Study Permit Financial Requirements (2025/2026)

Minimum Annual Funds: NOK 122,371 (≈ $11,800 USD)
Accepted Proof of Funds:

  • Student loans or grants
  • Personal savings
  • Income from a secured part-time job in Norway
  • Combination of the above

Minimum Annual Funds: DKK 85,032 (≈ $12,500 USD)
Required Documentation:
Proof of funds for 12 months (if studying >1 year).
Can include savings, scholarships, or guaranteed financial support.
